Will 2008 be Year No. 1 Web Property Makes Turnaround?
(Extracted from Investors Business Daily, December 27, 2007) Yahoo! ended November as the most visited property online with 136.1 million visitors, according to comScore Networks. The company's portal - which links to its own shopping, sports, news, real estate, finance and other services - attracts more Web surfers than any other company. But it has fared worst among the big three Web portals on Wall Street in 2007… Consumers are still spending more time on Yahoo! than on other sites. That's a big selling point for advertisers, says Sue Feldman, analyst for IDC, a research firm. "I really feel that we overuse percentages (growth) when we report things," she said. "The fastest-growing company grew at 125%, but all they made was $5 million. People still spend more time on Yahoo! than they do on Google, which means a lot to an advertiser."

Facebook, MySpace Emerge as Another Challenge for Yahoo!
(Extracted from Investors Business Daily, December 27, 2007) Yahoo! and other Web portals face a big threat - and it's not from Google. In the next few years, social networking sites such as News Corp's MySpace.com, Facebook and others are expected to compete with Yahoo! and others for a bigger share of the online advertising pie... Some ad executives also wonder how receptive social networking site users are to ads. Some ads might not fit into an environment where a visitor's sole goal is to meet friends and share videos or other information.

Christmas Leftover: Yahoo! Gives Its Employees Jackets
(Extracted from WebPro News, December 27, 2007) In March of this year, Google gave free bicycles to all of its [2,000] employees in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Yahoo! recently gave [all] its [14,000] employees fleece jackets, and since it's December, we're inclined to say that they have the upper hand… Lastly… anyone who thinks the environmental impact of Google's bikes has gone unmatched should look to Yahoo!'s new datacenter, which runs on 99 percent renewable power.
