New Yahoo! Home Page Connects People with What's Happening in Their World and on the Web; Preview the Page Everyone's Yodeling About

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 16, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO) today unveiled a preview of the new look for its flagship destination, www.yahoo.com, marking the most significant re-design to the Yahoo! home page. Putting consumers at the center of their Web experience, the new yahoo.com page lets them get things done quickly and stay up-to-date on the latest news, trends and buzz about what's going on in the world.

"As the most visited destination on the Internet, Yahoo! has always led the way in connecting people to the things they want to find and do -- faster and better than anyone else," said Dan Rosensweig, chief operating officer, Yahoo!. "By focusing on consumers' needs and using what today's technology can deliver, we were able to redefine what a home page could and should be. With an increased focus on search, content, community and personalization, we built a consumer-friendly home page that adds value and excitement for our users and advertisers."

Consumers turn to the Web daily to read news, search for information, stay in touch with their community and discover what's happening around the globe. The new yahoo.com page combines frequently updated news and entertainment with useful tools for searching, connecting, sharing and communicating online -- all on one simple, easy-to-use Web page. Yahoo!'s new home page also taps into the shared interests of the largest online community to showcase trends on the Web, plus the cool happenings that engage, entertain and inform people.

Additionally, the new yahoo.com page delivers a dynamic, interactive and easy-to-use consumer experience via AJAX and DHTML technologies, making it the most prominent implementation of these innovations on the Internet today.

The yahoo.com preview page offers a variety of new and enhanced features, including:

-- Personal Assistant: A new personal preview area displays recent messages from Yahoo! Mail, an online friends list from Yahoo! Messenger, and local weather forecasts, traffic and events from Yahoo! Local - bringing people more of what they need to speed up their daily routine with access to what they care about most in one place.

-- Yahoo! Pulse: People can instantly discover what's hot on the Web in this unique new section of the home page - including the most popular and interesting Yahoo! searches, as well as the latest trends, music, videos, photos, people and opinions. Yahoo! Pulse highlights what the estimated half a billion monthly users of Yahoo! branded services are looking for, reading, viewing, listening to, rating or sharing online.

-- Expanded Content: Thought-provoking feature stories, fresh entertainment, sports and finance content, as well as more of the latest national, world and video news are all hand-picked and updated by Yahoo!'s home page editors.

-- Enhanced Search Box: The newly designed and positioned Yahoo! Search box offers consumers a more prominent gateway to the Web, news, multimedia content, local information, shopping and Yahoo!'s directory to help them find exactly what they want quickly. Additionally, home page visitors can leverage the collective knowledge and experience of real people by accessing Yahoo! Answers just beneath the Yahoo! Search box.

-- Simple Navigation: Buttons near the top of the page link to Yahoo!'s other popular starting points, My Yahoo! and Yahoo! Mail. Other frequently used Yahoo! products and services are easy to find in a simple column of links, and new content tabs deliver more of the day's important news right on the home page.

-- More Control: Colors are easily tailored to fit a person's preferences with only a click of the mouse. Complementing My Yahoo!, the most popular personalized start page, the new yahoo.com gives consumers a home page that is immediately more useful and relevant for them.

The new Yahoo! home page is now available in the United States at www.yahoo.com/preview, with local preview versions in the UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. More enhancements to the page will be added over the coming months, and it will be made generally available in all global markets later this summer.
