SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sep 18, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO) today announced the launch of an integrated marketing campaign that highlights the new Yahoo! home page and other recently launched services, including the new Yahoo! Mail beta and Yahoo! Answers. The multi-million dollar consumer campaign includes television, radio, cinema and online advertisements portraying an irreverent and playful look at life with and without the essential benefits of Yahoo!'s Internet services. In addition, the campaign includes a Dunkin' Donuts coffee giveaway for visitors to Yahoo.com on Friday, September 22.
New "Do You Yahoo!?" Advertising
Produced in partnership with Soho Square and OgilvyOne Worldwide, the new advertising spots will debut on primetime television during the anticipated season premieres of "My Name is Earl" and "Grey's Anatomy" beginning at 8 pm ET on Thursday, September 21. New ads will also run in major U.S. markets on radio, in cinemas and online over the coming months. The commercials include a nostalgic nod to the company's signature "Do You Yahoo!?" tagline and accompanying Yahoo! yodel, which the company created in 1996.
"We're emphasizing our signature tagline to celebrate the 500 million monthly users of Yahoo! branded Web services around the world," said Cammie Dunaway, chief marketing officer at Yahoo! Inc. "Our new ads revitalize Yahoo!'s brand and rejoice in our company's spirit, with fun and entertaining spots that show how people's lives are made better with Yahoo!."
The new ads examine life's pitfalls, from dealing with the school bully to weeds in the garden. Each spot exaggerates a bad scenario with a character who doesn't use Yahoo!, and then humorously plays out the same scenario again to show how good life is with Yahoo!. The fully integrated campaign can be seen online, including an insider look at outtakes and user-created commercials, by searching for "Do You Yahoo!?" on Yahoo!.
"Yahoo! is a fun brand, and the launch of its new home page gave us a great excuse to use some humor and a little irreverence as a means to promote it," said Chris Curry, creative director at Soho Square. "The Yahoo! team really encouraged us to push it as far as we could."
Free Coffee Giveaway
As appreciation for the millions of people who start their day with Yahoo!, all users who select Yahoo.com as their start page this Friday, September 22, 2006 will be eligible for a free coffee giveaway from Dunkin' Donuts.
